2026 High School Mission Trip
Details
About TEXAS 2026: San Marcos is located 45 minutes from the beautiful river walk of San Antonio and 30 minutes from downtown Austin, but the needs and development are completely different. Life seems to move a little slower here, and that’s refreshing. San Marcos is home to many hispanic families who live below the poverty line. Destruction from floods, tornados, and other natural disasters have opened the doors to serve the inhabitants of San Marcos and share with them the good news of the Gospel. Your team will be able to bless people in need, while also gaining new perspectives on what God is doing in the southern region of the USA.
About LeaderTreks: Focus will be on student leadership development while serving others. Service will include a variety of projects including carpentry work, building decks and ramps, painting, trash removal, and landscaping. Groups will also plan and lead a VBS.
When are you going? We leave early Saturday July 25 and will return late on Sunday August 2
Who is going with us? This is a high school trip. Due to limited spots, priority will be given to current 9-12th grade students actively involved in youth ministry at Good Shepherd. Friends may be invited, but they do need to attend mission trip meetings.
What does it cost? The cost of the mission trip is $400. This includes everything except for meals while traveling & souvenirs. Starting in November, there will be several fundraisers throughout the year. Participants are expected to help with fundraisers as well as attend youth group and trip meetings. The cost of the trip is already offset by these fundraisers. The full amount should be paid by Wednesday, May 6. If for whatever reason this does not work for you, or you would like to set up a different payment schedule, talk to Kelly. If you will need a scholarship, talk to Kelly AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. Scholarships requests are only discussed with adults on the youth team or staff.
How do I get signed up for this AWESOME trip? To reserve a spot, you need to pay a non-refundable $100 by December 17 AND fill out the application. This can be done online or with a paper application. YOUR SPOT IS NOT GUARANTEED UNTIL WE RECEIVE A DEPOSIT. As long as spots are available, you can continue to sign up after that date. However, we need to plan number of adults and vans early and that will determine the final number of spots available.
